About the Experience

Rise & Thrive is the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa Foundation’s annual breakfast gathering, bringing business and community leaders together in support of young people across Ottawa.

The 2026 theme, Justice for All Youth, focuses on ensuring young people have access to safety, support, opportunity and a genuine sense of belonging.

The morning includes youth-led stories, perspectives on YSB’s programs and services, opportunities for connection with community and business leaders, and breakfast at Lansdowne’s Horticulture Building.

Why It Matters

Strong cities require more than successful businesses. They also depend on systems that help people participate, recover, work, belong and build a future.

YSB works across areas including youth mental health, shelters and housing, employment services and youth justice.

For business and professional leaders, Rise & Thrive offers an opportunity to hear directly from people connected to those realities while gaining a better understanding of some of the challenges affecting Ottawa’s young people and future workforce.

The value of the morning is not simply in being in the room. It is in understanding more of the city in which we work, lead and build.

What to Expect

This is a 90-minute morning experience, not a traditional conference or sales-driven networking event.

Guests can expect: • youth-led storytelling; • insight into YSB programs and services; • perspectives on issues affecting young people in Ottawa; • opportunities to connect with business and community leaders; • breakfast; • a purpose-driven atmosphere centred on listening, community and impact.

Who It’s For

This may be especially relevant for: • business owners, executives and professionals interested in community leadership; • employers focused on workforce development, employee engagement or social impact; • nonprofit, public-sector and community leaders; • organizations looking to better understand issues affecting young people in Ottawa; • professionals who value purposeful environments for learning and connection; • teams considering community investment or corporate participation.

The RÄNDĀ VO͞O Take

Some of the most important rooms are the ones that help us understand the city beyond our own industry.

Rise & Thrive earns a place on Discovery because it brings professional and community leadership together while keeping youth voices at the centre of the morning.

For business leaders, the value goes beyond who else may be attending. It is an opportunity to better understand issues involving mental health, housing, employment, justice and belonging — and to consider the role businesses and organizations can play in strengthening the communities in which they operate.

This is a different kind of professional room: one built around perspective, connection and shared responsibility.
